Motions for the 2nd BFSU Challenge 2014

Preliminary Rounds

1) THW close all tuition centers and "after-school" cram schools
2) THBT the state should regularly compel people to give blood
3) THW hold schools and teachers criminally liable in cases of bullying and sexual abuse among their students
4) THBT sweatshops (ie. Foxconn) have done more harm than good.
5) As feminists, THR the rise of sexually assertive pop stars (eg. Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna)
6) Assuming full confidentiality from all other parties, THBT the state should have access to each individual's secrets.

Quarter Finals
THBT China should unilaterally abandon the trade agreement which allows China and Taiwan to invest more freely in each other's services markets.

As NATO, THW take back Crimea.

THBT "People Power" Protests undermine democracy more than promote it.

Round 1: THS doctors who refuse to take people as patients who are unvaccinated because of a religious or philosophical objection that they or their parents hold

Round 2: THBT the feminist movement should actively exclude socially conservative viewpoints


Round 3: THBT Palestine should prohibit the establishment and operation of Israeli companies within Palestinian territories

Round 4: THW allow the public to remove Supreme Court justices by a popular referendum with a 60% supermajority

Round 5: THW choose not to consume art created by people who have committed deeply immoral acts

Round 6: Excluding sexual offenses, THW make poverty a significant mitigating factor in criminal sentencing

Octofinals: THW ban prenuptial agreements

Quarterfinals: THBT the assassination of political leaders is a legitimate tactic in war

Semifinals: THS developing countries violating the intellectual property rights of multinational corporations to benefit the public interest

Novice Finals (this wasn't the exact wording, but you get the idea): For any crime that tribal courts have jurisdiction over tribal members, THW give tribal courts jurisdiction over non members.

Grand Finals: TH Regrets the continuation of NATO after the dissolution of the Soviet Union

Round One Motion: THW measure the efficacy of charities and strip those with comparatively low social value of their charitable status.
Motion for Round Two: THBT a world without organized religion would be a better world.
Motion for Round Three: THS the boycotting of Israeli academics.
Motion for Round Four: THBT full gender emancipation requires the end of monogamy as a dominant social norm.
Round 5 Motion: THBT permit parents to stunt the physical development of their severely mentally disabled children.
Two-part Info Slide:
1) Stunting physical development is a medical procedure that typically halts all physical growth and development at a prepubescent stage.
2) Some parents desire to have doctors perform this procedure on their severely mentally disabled children so that it will be easier to care for their needs.
FINALS MOTION:
THBT, within broad budgetary constraints, environmental policy should be decided by unelected scientific experts selected by their peers
